Queensland Tourism is open for business! John Nalyer, Deja.vu magazine speaks with a very happy Annie Judd from Charter Yachts Australia.

On Sunday May 31, 2020, Anastasia Palaszczuk gave the much-awaited news that Queenslanders can travel anywhere within Queensland as of 12pm, June 1. The Tourism Industry will now begin to get back on its feet with an influx of holiday bookings surging in. Business confidence is on the rise!

Annie is one of 5 operators on the Whitsunday. She explains that the whole drama surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic snuck up on all the businesses in the region and it has been a very frightening time. They were prepared for the kickback from the bush fires and for a decrease in visitors however out of the blue, they were all shut down for an indefinite period. COVID safe plans and Management strategies were well documented awaiting the news that businesses on the Whitsundays could commence trading again.

Annie says, "Thank you Annastasia and we look forward to better times and an economic upturn". "I think it is a matter of time for the opening of the other borders with the key factor being the opening of the Queensland borders prior to the NSW school holidays which commence on Monday 6 July". "95% of our business is within Australia". "We want to see the entire Marina empty of boats, it is the best holiday in the world with access to all the islands within a half a day's sail offering safe moorings and anchorages". "The whales have arrived so come up and be part of the welcoming committee for the whole 10% massive increase in whales that come through every year".

There are a multitude of  fabulous activities that can be experienced on and around the Whitsundays:
Whitehaven Beach - self-isolation, Isolated anchorages - Plantation Bay, Family experiences - sensational walks, fishing, diving, snorkeling, Conway falls and the whale watching
Airlie Beach - An international destination with Coral sea marina

For those wanting to undertake a road trip, it is only a 12 hour drive from Brisbane and the roads are excellent and easy driving. Support our Tourism industry by coming and enjoying the serenity and beauty of this stunning region, it will be a holiday experience that you will remember forever.
